Happy Sunday.  Today is one of the best days of the week. A day of worship, rest and family.   I was super excited to be able to attend church as well as I had the opportunity to carry my bag that was given to me as a gift Since I have not been working, I was wondering when I would be able to use the beautiful bag. I finally decided that It would be perfect for church and ministry work.

I continue to practice what I preach ” look better than you feel.”  After church, I had my daughter to get a few quick pictures of me.

Psalms 121: A Prayer of Healing

Psalm 121:1-2, 4-8 KJ

I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. [2] My help cometh from the Lord , which made heaven and earth. [4] Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. [5] The Lord is thy keeper: the Lord is thy shade upon thy right hand. [6] The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night. [7] The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. [8] The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.

My Journey: is my Testimony. …This week has been very tough. And just when I begin to feel the worst of worst in my body I am reminded of the miracles already performed and I am not left with a witness that God has not left me alone and He is fully capable of giving me the miracle of healing… I will continue to keep my faith that my change will come. I trust God. I will not be left behind in this season of Blessings . No matter how it looks or shall I say how I feel!

Fibromyalgia is real, but it does not define me or control me.

As a therapist, I am seeing more of my patients that are dealing with chronic pain, fatigue & Fibromyalgia and many sessions get stuck on how to cope as they are in crisis mode. I have made  a proposal to my clinic on starting this new plan to better serve this population by offering an 8 week intensive program.

I would like your feedback. Please see below…
Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and Fibromyalgia/Chronic Pain/FatigueFocus Group

Length: 8 wks 1 hr sessions (Tentatively) may need 1.5 hrs

Background Information

CBT increases patients’ belief in their ability to manage their condition, and it helps them change pessimistic thoughts and negative feelings regarding symptoms like pain, fatigue, and sleep problems. “Through CBT, fibromyalgia patients learn techniques that help them to manage their symptoms better and develop a different attitude towards pain — more of acceptance and less catastrophizing,”
Cognitive Therapy Behavior means thinking about changes that can improve your life. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy will never take the place of a solid diagnosis and medication, but it can help you examine your life to identify problem areas where you can exert control.

Objective

To provide a supportive learning environment for Individuals to react differently to physical and emotional stress, and identify daily habits that may increase negative responses in the body to elevate pain.

To assist the individual(s) to learn tools to improve his or her overall ability to cope and function better on a daily basis.

Coping with Fibromyalgia/Chronic Pain

IMG_0487
Standard

Background Information

This post is geared towards offering som tips to dealing with Fibromyalgia and other chronic pain disorders.

Fibromyalgia is the most common musculoskeletal condition. It often goes misdiagnosed and misunderstood. Fibromyalgia includes widespread joint pain and fatigue.

Fibromyalgia causes you to ache all over. You may also have tender points on the body that may be painful to touch. Fibromyalgia may cause you to have irregular sleep patterns as well as mood disturbances such as depression.

Som patients may also have the following symptoms: headaches, stomach aches , inability to concentrate ( fibromyalgia fog) , numbness or tingling in the fingers and feet

If you are having symptoms that you are unsure , I recommend you seeing your primary care doctor for a referral to a specialist ( commonly known as a rheumatologist)

My Story

After many years of suffering ongoing pain and many test to rule out conditions such lupus and thyroid disease I was finally diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, Degenerative Arthritis  and osteoarthritis.

I live with chronic pain and a daily basis. I was initially prescribed medications that I was not comfortable taking for different reasons. There were some that I tried ( Lyrica & Savella) that did not help me. I really have not found any medication that offered me any relief.

I continue to educate myself and trust God that there will be answer and a relief for myself and others.

7 tips to cope with Fibromyalgia

1. Reduce Stress – modify your lifestyle and learn to say “No” Sometimes we are over achievers and take on too many obligations.

2. Sleep- make sure you are getting recommended about of sleep. If you are having trouble with restful sleep you will need to develop a night time routine that will help you to get the sleep that you need.

3. Relaxation- aside from sleeping you need to take 20-30 minutes breaks during the day to help to relax you mind and your body. If you are working, try to plan 10 minutes or so out of the day  get some quiet time in order to make it through the day easier.

4.Exercise – I know this may be the toughest one to do. In honesty, this is one of the most important things to try to do because the mobility really is helpful to keep the joints from being so stiff. This also helps stretch muscles. I have not tried this but, warm water aerobics have been very beneficial to some fibromyalgia suffers.

5. Prayer & Mediation- We have to keep our faith and trust in God to give us the strength to believe in the divine healing power. You have to stay positive and believe that there is healing for you. Your healing may come from a spiritual miracle from God or it may come from researchers finally coming up with a medication that will help.

Jeremiah 29:11  is my favorite scripture…that helps me to know that there is help and healing for me..it is not God’s desire to cause harm to us.

6. Eat Wise – it really does matter what the types of food you consume. Drink plenty of water , eat green( lots of leafy green vegetables) and add some type of daily vitamins. Stay away from colas and chocolate.

7. Live & Be happy- this may be easier said than done. Get involved in at least two leisure activities that you enjoy doing. It may be swimming, reading, knitting, spending time with friends, shopping etc…. For me, it has been spending quality time with my family & photography.

Live, Love, Laugh…..

Purchased at my local whole foods store
Information about this product shared from a FB Friend…..Thanks for information….

I am always looking and researching was to heal Fibro and other pain conditions . I have been dealing with a lot if issues since my recent surgery.

New pains as well as infection in my colon due to the fact that it was injured during my procedure.
I have been on numerous rounds of antibodic medication to help aid me in healing.

I was recently informed that the Manuka Raw Honey had great benefits. I did my own research and I am now sharing. I went and purchased mine on today. I will keep everyone posted on the results.

In regards to helping deal with fibromyalgia, there are benefits to eliminating inflammation and decreasing the everyday pain associated with arthritis and other joint pain.

Manuka honey is produced in New Zealand by bees that pollinate the native manuka bush. Advocates say it treats wound infections and other conditions.

WebMD takes a look at what the science says about using manuka honey as a medicine

Components of Manuka Honey are listed below

Hydrogen peroxide is a component of honey.  The peroxide gives the  most honey its antibiotic quality. But some types of honey, including manuka honey, also have other components with antibacterial qualities.

Another antibacterial component in manuka honey is methylglyoxal (MG). MG is a compound found in most types of honey, but usually only in small quantities. This is a great benefit in combating issues you may be dealing with in your body in regards to fighting infection.

In manuka honey, MG comes from the conversion of another compound — dihydroxyacetone — that is found in high concentration in the nectar of manuka flowers.

MG is thought to give manuka honey some of its antibacterial power. The higher the concentration of MG, the stronger the antibiotic effect. But, there may also be other compounds involved in the medicinal effect of manuka honey ( follow link below for additional information )

How is it used…..

  • Preventing and treating cancer
  • Reducing high cholesterol
  • Reducing systemic inflammation
  • Treating diabetes
  • Treating eyeear, and sinus infections
  • Treating gastrointestinal problems

Bounce Back

Standard

The only thing I can say is that you have to keep fighting. Sometimes this is easier said than done. Over the past few weeks, I have been in a struggle because I had major surgery.  It has been a real struggle to keep my mind  straight and the strength to fight through all the physical pain. In this writing, I will briefly share my experiences and tools that helped me and just might help you. I am on my ” Bounce Back”

I had a surgery where I was supposed to be in the hospital for maybe two days. Well those two days turned into 10 days of round the clock care. I thank God for a good treatment team and support system. I had a condition that was called ovarian remnant that had developed  a cyst (benign mass) that had created a blood supply and caused my internal organs to be matted together and had to be corrected. Also during the procedure my colon was injured and to be repaired. Long Road to recovery, as I have been very sick and over there past few days, I have begun to gain more of my strength back but not without a fight and a press. I thank God for prayer as when it felt that it was not getting better just calling/ humming “Jesus” gave me just the push to keep pushing.

“My Advice to Bounce Back”

Pray

Keep a positive attitude

Have a good support system (family , church family & friends)

Listen to others who have had similar experiences

Follow instructions of medical time

Be in a positive environment

Try to eat if at all possible (for a period of time, I could not keep anything down)

Keep scriptures before you to build your faith……

5Trust in the LORD with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding. 6In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight.…Proverbs 3:5-6

Detox your Life: DIY Recipe

Standard
Detox Blast

Detox Blast

Do you Detox? Detoxification helps to cleanse the both of harmful agents that cause sickness and pain in the body.

Too much inflammation is one of the leading causes of pain.

“Inflammation is part of the body’s immune response; without it, we can’t heal. But when it’s out of control—as in rheumatoid arthritis—it can damage the body. Plus, it’s thought to play a role in obesity, heart disease, and cancer.

Foods high in sugar and saturated fat can spur inflammation. “They cause overactivity in the immune system, which can lead to joint pain, fatigue, and damage to the blood vessels,” says Scott Zashin, MD, clinical professor at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas”

I suffer with a Chronic pain condition called Fibromyalgia. Fibromyalgia is widespread pain with out any true know cause. A great deal of research is been done to help she’d light on how to better treat the condition better known to me and others as the “Invisible Illiness”

I have done a great deal of research myself to try to better cope with Fibromyalgia and I have learned that different types of food increases pain symptoms in different areas of my body. In 2014, I really started to focus more on my health by improving my diet and starting to detox was one of the ways that I feel has been beneficial. I switch between detox waters and the detox drinks made with my nutribullet (www.nutribullet.com)  my favorite recipe is the Detox Blast that is pictured above which includes the following items (kale, lemon, apples and almond milk, ginger and water)

Do you Detox or suffer from any health condition and want to engage in the discussion? Do not forget to subscribe and share with others…
