Detox your Life: DIY Recipe

Detox Blast

Detox Blast

Do you Detox? Detoxification helps to cleanse the both of harmful agents that cause sickness and pain in the body.

Too much inflammation is one of the leading causes of pain.

“Inflammation is part of the body’s immune response; without it, we can’t heal. But when it’s out of control—as in rheumatoid arthritis—it can damage the body. Plus, it’s thought to play a role in obesity, heart disease, and cancer.

Foods high in sugar and saturated fat can spur inflammation. “They cause overactivity in the immune system, which can lead to joint pain, fatigue, and damage to the blood vessels,” says Scott Zashin, MD, clinical professor at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas”

I suffer with a Chronic pain condition called Fibromyalgia. Fibromyalgia is widespread pain with out any true know cause. A great deal of research is been done to help she’d light on how to better treat the condition better known to me and others as the “Invisible Illiness”

I have done a great deal of research myself to try to better cope with Fibromyalgia and I have learned that different types of food increases pain symptoms in different areas of my body. In 2014, I really started to focus more on my health by improving my diet and starting to detox was one of the ways that I feel has been beneficial. I switch between detox waters and the detox drinks made with my nutribullet (www.nutribullet.com)  my favorite recipe is the Detox Blast that is pictured above which includes the following items (kale, lemon, apples and almond milk, ginger and water)

Do you Detox or suffer from any health condition and want to engage in the discussion? Do not forget to subscribe and share with others…

Banana Pudding |Family Traditions|

IMG_5716-0
Standard

When were were growing up my mother always had a dessert  prepared to go along with our dinner. So you must know that we tend to feel that our dinner is not complete w/o some type of dessert.

I have a few that I fell that I am really good at preparing that include the no bake cheese cake, pecan pie, magic Cooke bars and the famous melt in your mouth banana pudding that might make you slap somebody if they ate the serving.

On Sunday, I prepared three of those famous banana puddings for our the anniversary dinner after service.  My daughter says mom you are going to have to teach me to make something because you and Nannie have special recipes and I want  to be able to make something for the family too. Others asked for the recipes as well on Sunday so I decided to share.

The recipe that I used is a combination of Paula Dean’s  ” not your momma’s ” banana pudding  plus I add my own personal touch which will be included in the recipe below. Hope you give it a try & enjoy!!!

Recipe

Ingredients
2 bags Pepperidge Farm Chessmen cookies
6 to 8 bananas, sliced
2 cups milk
1 (5-ounce) box instant French vanilla pudding
1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened
1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
1 (12-ounce) container frozen whipped topping thawed, or equal amount sweetened whipped cream

Directions

Add 1 package of Vanilla wafers to the bottom of the pan instead of the pepperidge farm cookies  * see photo below . Then top the completed budding with the pepperidge cookies  for decorations or

Line the bottom of a 13 by 9 by 2-inch dish with 1 bag of cookies and layer bananas on top.

In a bowl, combine the milk and pudding mix and blend well using a handheld electric mixer. Using another bowl, combine the cream cheese and condensed milk together and mix until smooth. Fold the whipped topping into the cream cheese mixture. Add the cream cheese mixture to the pudding mixture and stir until well blended. Pour the mixture over the cookies and bananas and cover with the remaining cookies. Refrigerate until ready to serve.

Teachable Moments: mom & daughter time

The moment when your daughter is excited about what she learned at school and wants to share her experiences with you and then try to duplicate it at home…

This week at school they were learning how to make yeast rolls. My daughter was super excited and she wanted to cook the family some rolls because she said the ones she cooked at school turned out great. So we got our supplies together to make yeast rolls.  This was a teachable moment for both of us because I had not ever made yeast rolls or any other type of rolls before.  We pulled out the recipe and attempted to follow it to the  “T” in hopes that they would turn out just like the ones at school and like the ones pictured in the recipe. Well, practice makes perfect….I must tell you that she worked very hard and was very precise.
